Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 July 2026

This policy explains what personal data The Bawdu Shop collects, why, and what your rights are. It applies to anyone who places an order or contacts us through this website.

Who We Are

The Bawdu Shop, a sole trader based in Newcastle, United Kingdom, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. There are no customer accounts on this site — we only hold data relating to orders and contact-form enquiries.

Information We Collect

We collect:

  • At checkout: your name, email address, and delivery address (street, city, state/region, ZIP/postal code, and country), so we can fulfil your order and process payment. Card details are entered directly into Stripe and never reach our servers.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, and the content of your message, so we can respond to your enquiry.

Why We Use Your Information

We use checkout information to perform the contract with you — taking payment, producing your order, and having it shipped. We use contact-form information on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to customer enquiries.

Who We Share Your Information With

We share personal data with the following service providers, only as needed to run the shop:

  • Stripe — processes payments and receives your name, address, email, and payment details.
  • Resend — sends contact-form replies and transactional emails on our behalf.
  • Vercel — hosts this website, stores order records, and provides website analytics.
  • Printify — our print-on-demand manufacturing partner. Order fulfilment is currently handled manually by us, and Printify receives the shipping details needed to produce and ship your order.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

International Transfers

Some of the service providers listed above, including Stripe, Vercel, and Resend, operate internationally and may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards are used to protect your data in line with UK data protection law.

Cookies and Local Storage

We keep our use of cookies and browser storage to a minimum:

  • A preferred-currency cookie, set for 30 days when we detect you may prefer a currency other than USD. This is functional, not tracking, and only affects the currency shown to you.
  • Cookies set by Stripe during checkout for fraud prevention and to process your payment securely.
  • Browser localStorage — stored on your device — to remember your shopping cart (bawdu-cart) and recently viewed items (rv). Your cart contents are only sent to our checkout system when you place an order.

These exist solely to make the site work as you'd expect. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, so no cookie consent banner is shown.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand how the site is used. These tools are cookie-free and do not collect personal identifiers about individual visitors.

Data Retention

We keep order records for as long as reasonably needed for legal, accounting, and customer service purposes. We don't currently operate a fixed automatic deletion schedule. If you'd like us to delete or provide a copy of your data, contact customerservice@thebawdushop.com and we will honour your request wherever we are legally able to.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to erase your data.
  • Object to how we process your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email customerservice@thebawdushop.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is not intended for anyone under 18. Per our Terms & Conditions, you must be at least 18 to place an order.
